• Question: Why do you prefer working 'in the field' to working from a computer?

      Well, first of all, I really like being outside in nature, and get some exercise while collecting my samples. I also find it extremely interesting to see rocks and sediments outside in their natural context. But I guess computer work cannot be avoided, and in fact, computers make scientist’s lives so much easier, for example when you are evaluating large data sets or making figures showing your data in a nice graphical way.
