My favourite thing about the Earth is that it is always changing. New rocks are being formed (at volcanoes, in the oceans and along fault lines) whilst old rocks are being pushed up against one another to make mountians. Rocks are also always being destroyed as large plates slide underneath other plates.

My favourite rock is a Komatiite, a very rare and old type of lava, that volcanoes don’t make anymore. I also really like amber!

My favourite thing about the Earth is that, just when you think you understand it all, it throws up a whole new mystery to investigate. It’s such a complicated thing, which I’m sure will keep me entertained forever :).

My favourite thing about the earth is that it’s home to us! it provides shelter from cosmic radiation and sustenance from food and water, it’s also fascinating to study its history through fossils and geology

I also think amber is my favourite rock, I love all the critters encased in it like a tiny time capsule!

My favourite thing about Earth are plate tectonics. It’s amazing to think such big chucks of rock are moving around while we live on them! Plate tectonics are responsible for so many things: the continents we live on, mountains, islands, hazards (earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis), different types of rocks, different sea life.

But what I find most fascinating are that plate tectonics do not only happen at the surface. Beneath the plates, the middle part of Earth, the mantle, is convecting and connected to the plates moving.

My favourite thing about the Earth is liquid water – there would be no life on Earth without it!
