I have to use quite a few books for work – the one I use the most is called Palaeomagnetism, it explains some of the key ideas behind the science I do, in a really easy way with LOTS of pictures!
I also use a lot of others: Introduction to Pure Mathematics (I’m not very good at math’s at all, so I use this quite a bit too!), Rock Magnetism Fundamentals and Frontiers and quite a few others too. I’ll take a photo of my book shelf at work and post it on my profile for you!
I read a lot of journal articles which is where new break throughs in my field are published.

I really like books and in my spare time I read quite a lot. I read the Hunger Games trilogy recently and really enjoyed that!

I don’t often use books, but they’re still very important. If I have to do some scientific analysis that I haven’t done before I use a book to make sure I do it right. As Laura says, most of the stuff working scientists read is cutting-edge research in journal articles.

I love reading and always have a book next to my bed. I find reading is a great way to relax in the evening. At the moment I am reading ‘The Language Instinct’ by Stephen Pinker. It’s a non-fiction book but it’s written really nicely so it’s not hard work! One of my favourite books is ‘Life of Pi’.

I use loads of books. Mainly ones on wave theory and seismology. Also use books on plate tectonics and mantle dynamics.
