I have been working in science since 2007 when I joined the British Geological Survey, and yes, when I was back at school I knew I wanted to work in a scientific discipline, I loved doing experiments and looking at the data, as well as learning about all the fantastic things we have today which are the product of scientific enquiry!

I guess I have been a scientist for around 10 years now – and I guess I always wanted to be one, so I am still very happy it worked out 🙂

I have been a scientist properly (as in I get given money for it!) for 3 years. But I think you become a scientist whenever you decide you are interested in investigating things like a scientist. I wanted to learn about the natural world when I was very young, so perhaps you could say I was a scientist even then.

I started my degree in 2007 and got a job in science in 2009.

But I would say I have always been a scientist. Always liked science at school. Always liked experimenting. Always loved baking, which is a great use of science!

But I guess I became a proper scientist when starting my PhD in 2009. That’s where the fun started 🙂

I’ve been a scientist for about 3 and a half years now, since I started my PhD.
I wasn’t always sure I wanted to be a scientist, I just knew I wanted to work with rocks.
I made the decision to be a scientist whilst studying at university and I understood what being a scientist involved. I did a 1 year research masters (were I did my own research project) to get a really good idea about what I would have to do if I became a scientist.
