      Great question!

No, I have never been to an underwater volcano, active or otherwise. But now you mention it, I would really like to!

Most of the world’s volcanoes are submarine volcanoes (about 80%) and tend to exists in the deepest depths of the ocean (more than 1000 metres deep). It is possible to go to these depths in a submarine, like the film director James Cameron did last year when he travelled through the Mariana Trench, which lies in the western part of the Pacific Ocean. There are many active volcanoes west of the Mariana Trench so it’s possible he may have seen one 🙂
