you can either try to become a professional and do it for your job, or you can do it as a hobby, in which case all you need is a pair of eyes (and maybe a telescope!)
if you want to become a professional, I think studying maths and physics (as well as chemistry) up to A-level is pretty essential as they give you the skills you are most likely to need, then you will be able to look to study astronomy or similar at university
