Ideally I like a mixture. Science is all about practical work, trying to get results. But results are no good unless you tell people about them! That’s why you need written work. I really enjoy thinking about ways to express things clearly in my writing. I am writing up some of my work at the moment, but I am also doing some analysis and getting results at the same time. That way I get a variety 🙂

I think a mixture is good as well, I probably do lean towards the practical side, but gathering data is only worthwhile if you use it, which normally means writing it down in the form of a paper or report

I also like a mixture. Practical work is really good fun. However, sometimes you need to start to write things down for all your ideas to come together. That then gives you more ideas for more experiments and it goes round in a circle that way! It’s good that you get variety as part of this job!
