My department has loads of really great people who are really helpful with my work. We have a lot of experts in a number of different subjects, so if I don’t know something I know who to ask! We also have lots of social events so people can get to know each other outside work: including a talent show, a barbecue and barn dance, and our legendary Christmas pantomime!

There are about 10 of us in my lab and it’s great because there is always someone around who can give you a hand if you are stuck on a particular problem or with an experiment.
I share my office with two other girls and it’s great working with them. Sometimes you can get too caught up with work. Because they are both also doing PhDs they totally understand that and are always around for a chat and a piece of cake to cheer me up!

      Of course I do!

I’m very fortunate to work alongside so many incredibly talented scientists! I’m always inspired by how much they know, and enjoy learning from them where I can (sometimes it makes my head hurt though!)

I consider many of them friends and am lucky to know such a great bunch of people 🙂

Absolutely, all people in my department are really nice and open towards scientific cooperation. There are some that I would definitely call my friends. You know, if you move around during your science career to different places where you don’t know anybody, your colleagues tend to become your friends as well.
