I have travelled quite a bit within the UK, doing survey work and installing remote sensing kit, there are opportunities to travel overseas as well, however I’m currently not exploring these due to having a young child at home!
Mainly for conferences where I present my work and discuss other science research with scientists from all over the world. I’ve been to San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Vienna, Paris …
I also get to travel for fieldwork (most recently to Turkey, but I have been to Canada and Hungary too)
But many people travel far more than me. Especially those who study volcanoes 🙂
I have been to conferences and meetings in Vienna (Austria), Banff (Canada) and Potsdam (Germany). I have had a few conferences in the UK as well but obviously that’s not as interesting!
Yes, I travel quite a lot. Right now, I am on a drillship in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You can check out details about the expedition at http://www.iodp.org or at http://www.joidesresolution.org. I have been on research expeditions to the Arctic Ocean, the Black Sea, the North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and the Bering Sea. During my studies, I did loads of field trips to all around Europe. And then there are conferences in places like San Francisco, Portland, Montreal, Prague, Vienna, Tromsoe.
Yes! I’ve been really lucky to visit some really cool places through my work. I’ve been on field work and also for conferences. The most exciting places I’ve been on field work to are: South Africa, New Mexico (U.S.A) and Tenerife. I’ve also had a chance to travel around the U.K a lot and spent an awesome 7 weeks on the Isle of Skye for field work, I liked it so much there I named my dog after the island!
