• Question: do you find alot of rare marine craetures

      As a geologist, most of the rare marine creatures I find are actually dead… but they once were alive and tell us stories about what the Earth looked like when they were alive. I have found loads of these fossils in my life, but I don’t think any of them was particularly rare…
      When we are on ships taking sediment cores from the sea floor, every now and then we get some brittle star or worms or sea anemones up from the seabed. Luckily, they are not very rare, as they usually don’t survive the process of being brought up the the ship.
      Well, and just two days ago we actually saw a group of sei wales around our drill ship, that was pretty cool 🙂
