I’m very lucky in that I never got picked on at all….

My younger brother was bullied quite badly and I had to stick up for him quite often!

It’s a horrible thing and kids can be incredibly cruel, I wish nobody had to go through it after seeing how upset it made my brother…

I look back on my school days as happy times (mostly) probably some of the best days of my life, he looks back and all he remembers is the bullying… it’s very sad 🙁

Sometimes other kids can be pretty nasty. I wasn’t badly bullied at school but sometimes I was made fun of. I was quite shy and focused a lot on my studies, and for some reason other pupils didn’t like that. Now, though, I’m not so shy because I’ve had a bit of success as a scientist, and I don’t really care what others think.

If you have any issues with bullies at school you can talk to your parents or another adult you trust, or have a look at websites like Bullying UK (http://www.bullying.co.uk/index.php/young-people/advice/introduction-to-bullying.html).

Luckly, I wasn’t. My class was very small and we all got on well. I’ve kept in touch with most of the people I went to school with, so I feel very lucky!

Kids can be hurtful sometimes, and it can be for a lot of reasons. It might be that they themselves are struggling with a problem and they find it easier to deal with it be being hurtful to someone else.

Like Angus says, if you are at all worried about bullying, make sure you talk to someone you trust.

Oh yes… we had a really stupid kid in our class, he was pretty violent and usually picked the weaker, “uncool” kids to play his jokes on – and of course, everybody found it funny (well I didn’t…). But that’s long past now, and I think it did not leave any permanent scars on my soul 🙂

I was definitely picked on sometimes but I was pretty good at sticking up for myself! With words obviously…no fists 🙂

Some of the cleverest people are bullied because bullies tend to be jealous and put others down to make themselves feel better.

Remember bullies usually are/were bullied themselves. Though fear not, not all bullied people turn into bullies 🙂
