I get up at 7:30, aiming to arrive at work at 9. Sometimes I make it, but sometimes I laze around a bit in the morning reading a book (a general-interest book, not a work-related one) or watching the news. I live 15-20 minutes walk from my Department so it’s quite a nice journey in to work.

When I arrive I usually spend a bit of time checking email, Facebook, Twitter and so on. Then I check any computer simulations I have running to see if they are still going OK.

Quite often we have meetings of our research group in the mornings, when we can discuss each others’ work. Sometimes I take a lunch break outside, which is nice because we have some amazing gardens next to our building. It’s nice being on a university campus because there’s always loads of stuff going on. If I’m having a productive day (or a bad one and I need to take break!) I go and see what’s going on on campus or meet up with friends in the cafe.

In the afternoon I do most of my actual ‘work’. I tend to get quite absorbed analysing my data! I usually finish work between 5 and 6. Then I go back home, cook some tasty food, relax, read, watch TV and chat with my housemates.

      It’s a good routine :).

I wake up at 6am and normally manage to get to work by 7:30, I work 4 days per week so have to work longer to make up the difference!

normally I check emails and my calendar and plan my day as much as possible, I tend to try to do the super important stuff in the morning, I find I concentrate better and have more energy earlier in the day. Normally I go for a coffee at 11 (the most important part of the day!)

I have lunch at around 12:30, then back to whatever I’m working on, I tend to finish work around 5pm then I head home, exercise, play with my son, eat dinner and either watch TV or read
